About Corfu

Corfu is the most western geographical point of Greece and the most northern island in the Ionian Sea and forms the entrance to the Adriatic Sea. Corfu is the second largest island of the Eptanissa islands (the seven islands) and together with the small islands of Paxi and Antipaxi, to the south, and the tiny islands of Othoni, Erikoussa and Mathraki, to the north, forms the province of Corfu.
As a well-known and necessary port of call between the east and west, Corfu was for many centuries a victim of enemy invasions and had many conquerors. Traces of these people (ranging from Latin, Byzantine and Medieval times) can be found back in the place names of Corfu, which have through the centuries, have not been altered.
The warm, Mediterranean climate reminds more of the southern areas of Greece. The summers are cool with the average temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. While its mild autumns, winter and spring, are the best time to escape from the cold and wet winters of northern Europe. Therefore Corfu can be visited the whole your round!
Descendants of the hospitable Phaeacians who we meet in the film “Odyssey”, are now the residents of Corfu and are now known for their incredible hospitality. As on other Islands in Greece, the characteristics of the islanders are not altered by tourism and are always friendly and pleasant.
